For the Cashiers Designer Showhouse, my mother and I foraged buckets of ferns, pierus, hydrangea, pachysandra, russian sage, dahlias, and other blooms from the Chattooga Club Gardens. We showed attendees how to condition flowers, build a textured base, and finish an arrangement. I can’t resist cramming as much floral knowledge as possible into each presentation and love showing a variety of containers and teaching a variety of “mechanics.”
“It was a joy to watch Kakhi’s lovely approach to flowers and her artistry. I learned so much and especially learned a whole new appreciation of many of the simplest of materials that surround me everyday. Surely, I will not tackle putting a flower in a vase again without thinking of her talk.”
